Dockery Lake

Dockery Lake is a USFS campground and recreation area in the Chattahoochee National Forest.

This time of the year the campground and lake are closed for the season. During the summer, spring and early fall however, it looks like it would be a rather nice place to return. This was my first visit to the area, triggered by an impromptu ("hmm I wonder where that goes?") stop while driving from the Deep Hole recreation area to Unicoi State Park. The lake and campground are down a long and steep onelane gravel road. It was in good condition and the Vibe made it with no worries.
The fall colors were outstanding.

An old water pump, sealed for the winter provided a nice opportunity to showcase a particularly beautiful leaf.

Dockery Lake was a nice detour and I hope to someday return to fish the lake in an open season.
